Abstract

• In March 2019, the level of inequality in expenditure of the population of South Kalimantan as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.334. This figure is down by 0.006 points compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio which is 0.340. Meanwhile, when compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio (0.344), there was a greater decline, by 0.01 points.
• The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2019 was recorded at 0.353, down by 0.004 points compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2018 which was 0.357. Compared to the Gini Ratio a year earlier, there was a larger decline (0.012 points), which was at 0.365 in March 2018.
• Meanwhile, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2019 was recorded at 0.282, up by 0.003 points compared to the September 2018 figure, but decreased by 0.003 points compared to the March 2018 Gini Ratio which was recorded at 0.285.
• As of March 2019, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group is 20.25 percent. This means that the expenditure of the population of South Kalimantan is in the category of a low level of inequality.
• Specified by region, in urban areas the figure was 19.08 percent, while in rural areas the figure was higher, at 22.54 percent. This means that both in urban and rural areas in South Kalimantan fall into the category of low inequality.
